Compared to traditional blocks or bricks using railways sleepers for a raised bed or even a retaining wall will be the cheaper option and will also look great.
Historically railway sleepers were used to support railway lines, they would have a worn appearance which makes them ideal for that traditional rustic look.
Reclaimed railway sleepers like these are still available however now due to the ever popular demand garden railway sleepers are produced specifically from FSC sourced timber which is pressure treated for longer life. While being pressure treated they can have a slight colour like green or brown added. Being pressure treated means they do not need anything added to them to protect form rot, however often people do like to have them stained to a different colour like dark oak.
There are also Oak railway sleepers available that are more expensive and again these do not need to be treated.
Railway sleepers are a great design feature for any garden
If so, we can explain and show you how railway sleepers can be used to create great looking steps, raised beds, retaining walls, or simply be used as vegetable planters.
Any of these will definitely add a great look to any garden.
